A Lord of the Rings Meal - Middle Earth Style

Feast of the Shire: A Hobbit-Approved LOTR Dinner

Hobbits love six meals a day, but we’ll keep it to one big feast (unless second dinner is on the table too! 😆).

The Menu 🍽️

  1. Seed Cakes & Honey Butter Biscuits 🥯

    • Since your biscuits were a hit, let’s keep them but give them a Hobbit twist with a honey butter glaze.

    • Bonus: Traditional Hobbit seed cakes are lightly spiced and filled with caraway seeds—if you want to try a new baked treat!

  2. Samwise’s ‘Taters: Herb Roasted Potatoes 🥔

    • "Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew"—but for this dinner, we’ll roast them with butter, rosemary, and garlic.

  3. Gondorian Roasted Chicken with Thyme & Ale Sauce 🍗

    • A beautifully herbed, golden-roasted chicken served with a light ale or broth-based sauce—something even Aragorn would approve of.

  4. Elven Lembas Bread (Shortbread or Honey Oat Bars) 🍞

    • Elves eat this as travel food, but we’ll turn it into a sweet, slightly nutty oat or shortbread treat.

  5. Mushrooms in Butter & Garlic 🍄

    • A nod to Frodo and Sam stealing Farmer Maggot’s mushrooms, this dish is simple but bursting with flavor.

  6. Mirkwood Forest Berry & Apple Crumble 🍏🍓

    • A rustic, warm fruit crumble with apples, berries, and a crispy oat topping.

  7. Drink of the Night: Spiced Cider or ‘Butterbeer’ Inspired Mead 🍻

    • A non-alcoholic mulled cider with cinnamon and cloves or a honey-sweetened butterscotch-style drink for fun.

Table Setting Ideas 🎭

  • Use wooden plates or rustic dishes for that true Hobbit-feast feel.

  • Light candles or lanterns for a warm, cozy glow.

  • Maybe even bring out a special Rings themed surprise (gold napkin rings? A ring-shaped dessert?).

Would this work for your Lord of the Rings dinner?
